Your job in a nutshell

As a Scientist at SkylineDx, you provide scientific and clinical support on several projects that cover the full range of in-vitro diagnostic assay development process, including marker discovery, development, validation and market authorization activities. You work in SkylineDx’ multidisciplinary development team: scientists, lab technicians, study directors, software engineers and the QA/RA department. Externally, you liaise with clinical investigators and drive academic collaborations.

You will  perform your work from our office in Rotterdam (hybrid work model) and report to the Chief Scientific Officer.

Together we ensure the validation and implementation of clinically relevant scientific discoveries into reliable medical diagnostic assays for diagnosis, prognosis and drug effectiveness prediction that will ultimately contribute to improved patient care. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides scientific input to the identification of new signatures/ biomarkers for future product developments (opportunities).
  • Performs assessments of scientific literature to Identify the scientific and clinical value of a biomarker, determine its scientific validity level and quality.
  • Determines the technological implementation risks.
  • Supports the identification of the commercial potential of a biomarker.
  • Set up contact with investigators for high potential opportunities.
  • Scouts for new opportunities through literature searches and via competitive analysis.
  • Develops business cases for the development of such markers into IVD Products.

You have

  • a MSc or PhD degree in molecular biology, (bio)pharmacy, (bio)chemistry or another relevant area.
  • knowledge about molecular diagnostics, genomics, assay validation and statistics (pre).
  • experience in gene expression analysis (pre).
  • 1-2 years’ experience in project management.
  • experience with working under GxP conditions.
  • experience with translating state-of-the-art science into products that matter to patients (pre).
  • strong analytical skills and creative approach to problem solving.
  • an excellent command in written and spoken English.
  • a hands-on mentality and result oriented attitude.
  • an entrepreneurial mind-set and are able to work in an environment with high quality standards.
  • the ability to motivate the team and manage both internal and external collaborations.
